Press conference with Toulon Harbour shipyards - Feb. 2019
Actus Riviera Yachting Network
To raise awareness of the yachting culture and continue to create jobs in the SUD-Paca Region, the 3 member shipyards of the harbor of Toulon (IMS Shipyard, Foselev Marine, Monaco Marine) gathered around the president of the cluster Riviera Yachting NETWORK to demand a profound change of the ports as to the quality of their reception and to make it clear that by copying Antibes or Barcelona, yachting could be made to cohabit with smaller units (the local boating) or much larger ones (cruise passengers), and thus double the economic activity.
They have also demonstrated the regional complementarity between Toulon, La Ciotat and Marseille, each working on different yacht sizes, and must together remain competitive through structuring investments.
A point could also be made on the progress made in 2018 in terms of the seamen's social protection or taxation (request for European harmonization to counter distortions of competition in Italy), which at one time had caused 25 to 30% fleeing of yachts.
